Alongside authors who live and work in the Ruhr Area, writers from the regions of Oberhausen´s twin towns Mersin (Turkey/ Çukurova), Carbonia (Italy/Sulcis) and Middlesbrough (Great Britain/Tees Valley) are called to participate in this competition with their short stories.


What would it be like if messages from a strange world were to reach us? Would it make us afraid or would it fire our spirit as explorers?

What would it be like if we set off to explore the world beyond our horizon? Would we meet anyone on the way? Maybe even ourselves?

Just in case science changes our future lives beyond recognition: Perhaps we will journey not only through space but also through time and will start over again at a point some time in the past. We may possibly press ahead in time and the earth will turn out neither to be a disc nor a sphere. A completely new dimension might become the norm.

Or will Man himself present enough material for elucidating stories? Where will he be in the distant future? Where is he at the moment? In light or in the shade?

However: We cannot wait to read stories of voyages of discovery to distant worlds or into our own cosmos. And should anybody fail on the journey, seemingly be awaiting the things to come like a fixed star or should there be deep insights into dark souls then why not. Anything is allowed.
